BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY
Every woman dreams of having beautiful breasts. Women with too large and disproportionate breasts face problems with regard to back ache or ache around the shoulder area because of having to support the weight of these breasts. It is also difficult to find proper clothing. Breast reduction surgery is a direct means of resolving these problems so that women with too large breasts no longer suffer from back or shoulder aches, nor from the weight burden of these breasts.
There are 2 methods of Breast Reduction Surgery:
1. Breast Liposuction
The surgeon will conduct liposuction only on patients with not so large breasts. The disadvantage of this procedure is that it is difficult to properly control the form/shape of the breasts, nor the size relative to the requirements of the patient.
2. Breast Reduction Surgery
For patients with significantly large breasts: the surgeon will cut into the skin in the shape of an inverted T Scar (as per example shown on picture A), and remove the excess fat and flesh so that the size of the breast is reduced to that required by the patient. From then, the skin and the nipples are stitched back to their original positions
(As shown in picture B)
The advantage of this Breast reduction surgery procedure is that it is possible to achieve breast size and shape as required by the patient. However, it is possible that a scar will be visible. Therefore, it is necessary for the patient to consult the surgeon for assurance prior to making any decision on this matter.
The duration of the surgery is 3-5 hours, depending on the size of the breasts.
Post Operative Care
After the surgery, it is necessary to ensure that the wound is kept dry for the first 2-3 days. The wound is to be cleaned as instructed by the surgeon.
