Eyes
Upper Blepharoplasty
Lower Blepharoplasty
The eyes are considered important components of the face, and having bright eyes is another way of making the face look more charming. Therefore, having eye lid skin creases is another way of making the face look radiant and youthful. In general, Asians have no eye lid skin crease, or only partial eye lid skin crease, or the fat inside the eyelid (orbital fat) makes the eye crease look less visible, thus reducing the brightness of the eyes. Blepharoplasty is, therefore, one option of improving personal image.
The Procedures of Blepharoplasty
1. First, the surgeon will mark the appropriate location of the eye lid skin crease so that the eyes will look beautiful
2. The patient is given a mild sedative to relax during the surgery
3. The surgeon starts to inject local anesthetic specifically into the surgery area
4. Once the local anesthetic becomes effective, the surgeon starts to use surgery device to cut into the skin along the marked eye lid skin crease location, removing any excess skin and fat. Then, stitches are made to create a new eye lid skin crease, as required by the patient before stitching the wound closed on the outer skin surface
6. Two days after the surgery, the face can be cleaned/washed using mild soap
7. Four days after the surgery, the suture will be removed
Post Operative Care
1. Two-four hours after the surgery, it is required to place a cold pack over the wound in the form of cold tower or gel pack so as to constrict the blood vessels
2. Sleep and rest with head slightly elevated to reduce swelling for a week.
3. She must take extra caution when coughing or sneezing severely to prevent bleeding after the surgery
4. Refrain from smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages and eating salty, spicy, preserved/pickled food for 1-2 weeks.
5. 24 hours after the surgery, the plaster may be removed so that the face can be cleaned with a moist cloth
