Lipectomy
Lipectomy is a surgery which removes excess fat and skin in order to improve the patient’s figure, making it shapelier. The decision to undergo Lipectomy requires the use of general anesthesia, and 2-3 days of admission at the hospital before the patient can return home. The scar will appear as a long line above the pubis, which may run from one side of the hip to the other, depending on the amount of excess fat and skin.
There are two types of surgery:
1. Surgery made above the navel which is appropriate in the case of sagging belly due to plenty of excess fat, and pregnancy stretch marks on the belly. This surgery requires the administration of general anesthesia.
2. Surgery below the navel is appropriate for patients who do not have much belly fat, but has pregnancy stretch marks on the belly. The objective is to correct these stretch marks only. This surgery can be undertaken at the clinic with the use of local anesthetics. The patient may return home after the surgery.
Post Operative Care
1. 2-3 days after the surgery, the patient should wear a full corset to tighten the belly muscles, and reduce swelling
2. 6 days after the surgery, the surgeon will schedule the removal of the suture, and recheck the wound
3. It is possible to exercise 2 months after the surgery
4. The wound will completely heal within 3-4 months
