Nose
Revision Rhinoplasty
A Revision Rhinoplasty requires various forms of surgery, and the surgeon will primarily take into consideration the original form/shape of the nose. In general, the following modifications will be made:
1. Surgery to reduce the slant of the nose
is a delicate procedure using general anesthetics in order to cut the nose bones, and reduce the slant of the nose which was previously too big, too high or not properly curved, making it look shapelier and at a suitable height relative to the face. The scars will be inside the nostrils.
Surgery takes about 2-3 hours. An overnight hospital admission is required with a one week recovery period.
2. Surgery to lower the nasal hump -some patients has a masculine nasal hump at the center of their nose. Our surgeons can eliminate this hump, leaving the scars hidden inside the nostrils. If the hump is not too large, the procedure may be undertaken using local anesthetics
. However, if it is very large and thick then special equipment must be used which requires the use of general anesthetics.
Surgery takes about 1-2 hours. , and the patient may return home immediately after the surgery (local anesthetics) with a one week recovery period.
3. The reduction of nose length
is an aesthetic procedure that reduces the length of the nose tip, which is a cartilage, making appropriate adjustments to its length. This is done using local anesthetics. The wound will be opened from inside the nostrils, thus no scars will be visible.
Surgery takes about 1 hour. The patient may return home immediately after the surgery with a one week recovery period.
4. Modification of the nose tip area
is an aesthetic procedure to modify large, wide, and flat nostrils to make them look smaller and slimmer, more attractive and feminine. The surgeon makes the adjustments, and stitches the cartilage at the nose tip making it look slimmer and slightly lifted. This procedure can be undertaken using local anesthetics.
Surgery takes about 1 hour. The patient may return home immediately after the surgery with a one week recovery period.
5. Alarplasty
is the rectification and modification of the nose of those who have unusually wide nostrils. This procedure can be undertaken by the use of local anesthetics.
Surgery takes about 30 minute. The patient may leave immediately after the surgery with a one week recovery period.
Post Revision Rhinoplasty Care
1. Sleep and rest with head slightly elevated to reduce swelling for 2-3 days.
2. Apply ice pack over the wound for 24 hours
3. Keep the wound dry
4. Clean the wound every day with saline solution 0.9% NSS to remove blood stains, dirt and reduce the risk of infection.
5. Stitches can be removed within 5 days
